"SYNDUALITY" is a new large-scale science fiction project by Bandai Namco Entertainment, Bandai Namco Filmworks, and BANDAI SPIRITS. We will be bringing you advance reviews and play footage of the PS5/Xbox series X|S/PC (STEAM) game "SYNDUALITY Echo of Ada," which is currently under development as part of the project.
The ones used in this review and play footage are in development and are equivalent to those that can be tried out at Tokyo Game Show 2023.
"SYNDUALITY Echo of Ada" advance play footage [SYNDUALITY]
This is a video of the game playing video lasting over 9 minutes. At this time, various media outlets were interviewed and filmed, besides Dengeki Online. If you compare it, I think you can get a better grasp of the atmosphere of this film.
The heavy movements of the Cradle Coffin are extremely robotic! The action isn't too fast so even beginners can rest assured
In this game, the player controls a robot called Cradle Coffin. Furthermore, as your partner, you will be accompanied by a humanoid machine with AI called "Magus." Magus helps you explore as a buddy, so it's attractive that you can enjoy a sense of unity even when playing solo.
The cradle cuffin has a very heavy and heavy feel to it. Although it doesn't make too much of an incredible move, the movements have a robot feel to it and it feels great!
The aircraft I played this time is not anything like a booster, and it is difficult to fly around the air freely, but you can quickly move around the ground by moving the thruster. In the anime "SYNDUALITY Noir," a machine called Gilbow showed maneuvering in the air, so I'm curious to see what will happen.
Steps are also possible, but this one has a short distance of travel, so I felt it would be better to use it to avoid it rather than to travel.
Be careful as excessive use of thruster movement and steps will cause overheating and some actions will not be possible for a certain amount of time. By the way, there is also some drop damage, which is quite painful (lol). The map also has a difference in elevation, so be careful when moving.
Repairs using recovery items are also possible, but it takes time and you will have to cancel steps or thruster movement, so it is important to move carefully.
The main attack method is shooting weapons, which can be switched between two types of shooting weapons. You can also change equipment on the spot if you pick up a weapon while exploring.
At the time of trial play, the cradle cuffins had low athletic performance, so tactics such as sniper rifles were effective to take the lead from long distances.
In addition, I was able to try assault rifles and machine guns, but the sense of security that sniper rifles, which keep you from a distance, was amazing!
By the way, there is no lock-on when shooting, but to a certain extent it will adjust the standard setting automatically, so even if you're not good at aiming, you can rest assured. There is also an aim mode when you want more precise shooting.
It also includes attack methods other than fire weapons, such as melee attacks and grenades. Throwing weapons that can attack a wide area seem to be of high importance.
Overall it's a refreshing robot action! Rather, I felt that it was an action-oriented approach that placed an emphasis on exploration and survival. The characters and fields drawn with realistic 3D graphics are of extremely high quality, and the action is quite impressive.
It may not be enough for people looking for high-speed action, but I think that even people who are not good at action games will enjoy it.
The main purpose is to mine ore while defeating the Enemies!
In the main online mode of this game, you will need to defeat Enders (monsters) and collect supplies, but the main purpose is to "recover supplies and take them home" rather than defeating enemies.
The basic game flow is likely to replace supplies with money and use them to strengthen cradle coffins and other items. Although I was not able to try it out during this trial game, there are still other items that can be strengthened. Although it is a multi-shooter, it does not assume fierce battles, and it is refreshing to see that it places emphasis on exploration and training.
When I actually played it, I felt that there was a lot of weight on the battle elements as well as the hack and slash elements. You can sit down and play!
Supplies have the concept of weight, and there are disadvantages such as slowing down if they exceed a certain weight, so we recommend returning home once you have determined that you have obtained sufficient supplies. The basic purpose of this work is to "take back supplies such as AO crystals." It's not about fighting and winning battles (although there may be some missions that are mainly combat).
You can enjoy the "AO crystals", which are the main supplies, when mining, so it is important to check the surroundings. During the first play, I was forced to get beaten up by another player while mining (lol).
The main enemy is Enders (so-called monsters), and they will attack you when you approach them.
Defeating enemies and collecting materials is not necessarily the main focus, and depending on the situation and purpose, it is also possible to avoid them and act. Especially in situations where there are fewer healing items, it is safer to avoid encounters with enemies as much as possible.
This is just an example, but we will introduce examples where the field search worked and examples where the field was not working.
Examples that worked
Once you have enough supplies collected on the field, head to the escape point. Once you have submitted your return application at the escape point, wait for the return elevator to start up on the spot.
By the way, during trial play, I managed to defeat other players and scavenge supplies from the aircraft. We were able to obtain a large amount of supplies, including aircraft parts. No, there's quite a lot of this... I couldn't help but cry out, "It's delicious!" It's the pleasure of getting something delicious with a hack and slash... In the gameplay videoPer 6 minutes and 30 secondsIt would be easier to understand if you could look at it. I was able to capture Magus as well.
Even if you submit a return application, don't let your guard down. You may be attacked by Enders, so be careful of those around you and wait for it to start. When I played it I came across a pretty tough Enders. Even if you get on the elevator, it will take about 30 seconds to start working. It's important to survive that time. This is quite tingling.
When the elevator started up safely, we managed to escape! You can take supplies back to your base.
Examples that didn't work
If you are unable to return, such as when unexpected damage is taken, you can enter an emergency escape command to escape Magus. The aircraft and supplies will be lost, but Magus will remain safely in his hands.
If the emergency escape fails in time, the aircraft and supplies will disappear, as well as the Magus. Not only will you disappear for a while, but if another player has captured your magus, you will have to pay for it to be picked up.
If you are unable to escape emergencyly and the mission fails, Magus will turn your head as above! (laughs) It was quite interesting. For more information about this, please see the gameplay video.Per 8 minutes and 42 secondsIf you look at it, you'll be able to see what it feels like. Even when he looks like this, Magus is brave and thanking the players...!
Incidentally, even if Magus is gone, it is possible to set out, but there are disadvantages such as the disappearance of guides and HUD displays. It will be quite inconvenient, so it would be better to let Magus return as much as possible. It seems like you can also borrow money, so it's not like you'll get stuck playing because you've been shot down.
Magus is a super reliable buddy for attacks and support! Also pay attention to the impressive amount of voice
The biggest feature of this work is Magus's presence. During the quest, they will give you advice based on the situation.
There are many useful things, but there are also humorous and relaxing lines. The lines are incredibly huge and it's fun to see them change your exploration, which can often become monotonous.
Magus also provides support through Magus skills and Magus orders.
The Magus skill can be used to attack enemies in combat, while the Magus Order can be used to explore the surroundings. There seem to be a variety of ways to use it, and there are still many parts that I couldn't see in the short trial period.
You can also interact with other players and become hostile! Does the story change depending on your actions?
The main purpose of this work is to find supplies and take them home.
However, if you meet other players while exploring, you can also fight together. Unfortunately, during trial play, I didn't have the opportunity to fight with other players, but I sometimes ended up having a gunfight with a player I met by chance.
Magus advised that if you defeated other players, your association's ratings dropped!
By the way, there are factors such as the player's position changes depending on the increase or decrease in ratings from the association, and the requests that can be received change. It seems that you can enjoy different stories depending on the roleplay.
During trial play, you were able to earn a large amount of supplies by defeating other players. However, it seems that such play has advantages and disadvantages, and it is unlikely that the main focus is to defeat enemy players and steal supplies.
Rather than being based on multiplayer, it seems that the main focus is on solo exploration, and even people who are not good at PvP can enjoy it.
It has hack and slash elements and gives it a smooth, smooth game smell!
In my impression beforehand, I had predicted a robot action game where you can fight in a flashy way, but when I tried it out, my impression changed dramatically!
Rather than high-speed action, the gameplay is more focused on exploration, like an adventure + RPG, and the more you play it, the more you feel it has a deeper depth that will give you a more flavor.
Personally, I felt that the game design was a way to enjoy true fun by playing for a long time and enriching the equipment. That's why I'm even more excited about the launch of the official service!
New information about this work was revealed during the presentation and question-and-answer session by the production team, which was held at the same time as this trial game. Please take a look at that as well.
